Carly Rae Jepsen

Carly Rae Jepsen (born November 21, 1985) is a Canadian singer-songwriter from Mission, British Columbia. In 2007, she placed third in Canadian Idol season five's competition and was a part of the Canadian Idol Top 3 concert tour.

Shortly after competing on Canadian Idol, she independently released her debut album, Tug of War, through MapleMusic Recordings on September 30, 2008.

Three years later, she released a new single, titled "Call Me Maybe", on Canadian label 604 Records, which was followed by the release of an EP titled Curiosity on February 14, 2012.

In February 2012, pop singer Justin Bieber referred her to his manager, Scooter Braun, who subsequently signed Jepsen to his Schoolboy Records label while obtaining an American deal with global distribution on affiliate Interscope Records, after "Call Me Maybe" gained popularity on YouTube by reaching 400 million views.

The single reached the number one spot on both the US Billboard and Canadian Hot 100, while also topping the charts in 19 other countries. Jepsen's musical influences include James Taylor, Bruce Springsteen and Van Morrison.

Samantha Jade

Samantha Jade Gibbs (born 18 April 1987) is an Australian singer, songwriter, actress and former child model from Perth, Western Australia. She has written tracks for artists including JoJo and Ashley Tisdale.

On 20 November 2012 Jade won the fourth series of The X Factor Australia, the first female to win the Australian series. She subsequently signed with Sony Music Australia and released her winner's single "What You've Done to Me", which debuted at number one on the ARIA Singles Chart.

Lana Del Rey

Elizabeth Woolridge Grant (born June 21, 1985), known by her stage name Lana Del Rey, is an American singer-songwriter. Del Rey started songwriting at the age of 18 and signed her first recording contract with 5 Points Records in 2007, releasing her first digital album Lana Del Ray in January 2010.

Del Rey bought herself out of the contract with 5 Points Records in April 2010. She signed a joint contract with Interscope, Polydor, and Stranger Records in July 2011.

Celine Dion

Celine Marie Claudette Dion, (born 30 March 1968) is a Canadian singer. Born into a large family from Charlemagne, Quebec, Dion emerged as a teen star in the French-speaking world after her manager and future husband René Angelil mortgaged his home to finance her first record.

In 1990, she released the English-language album Unison, establishing herself as a viable pop artist in North America and other English-speaking areas of the world.

Ashlee Simpson

Ashlee Nicolle Simpson (born October 3, 1984) is an American singer-songwriter and actress.

The younger sister of Jessica Simpson, she rose to prominence as a participant in her sister's reality show Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica, and starred in the spin-off program The Ashlee Simpson Show which portrayed her creating her debut album, Autobiography (2004).

The album was released after the show's first season and went to the top of the album chart. Following a North American concert tour and a film appearance, Simpson released her second number-one album, I Am Me (2005).

Simpson assumed creative control over her unsuccessful third studio album, Bittersweet World (2008).

Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande-Butera (born June 26, 1993), known professionally as Ariana Grande, is an American recording artist and actress. Born and raised in Boca Raton, Florida, she attended North Broward Preparatory School and began her career singing at sporting events and with symphonies around her native Florida.

She appeared in the Broadway musical 13, before landing the role of Cat Valentine on the Nickelodeon sitcom Victorious in 2009. After the show ended, she received her own spinoff, Sam & Cat, along with iCarly actress Jennette McCurdy.

As she kept herself busy with television, Grande began to pursue a musical career, making her first appearance on the soundtrack, Music from Victorious (2011), which led to a recording contract with Republic Records.

Kirsten Dunst

Kirsten Caroline Dunst (born April 30, 1982) is an American actress, singer, model and director. She made her film debut in Woody Allen's short film Oedipus Wrecks for the anthology film New York Stories (1989).

At the age of twelve, Dunst gained widespread recognition playing the role of vampire Claudia in Interview with the Vampire (1994), a performance for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress.

She appeared in Little Women the same year and in Jumanji the following year to further acclaim. After supporting roles in the NBC medical drama ER (1996) and films such as Wag the Dog (1997), Small Soldiers (1998) and The Virgin Suicides (1999), Dunst transitioned into romantic comedies and comedy-dramas, starring in Drop Dead Gorgeous (1999), Bring It On (2000), Get Over It and Crazy/Beautiful (both 2001).
